We evaluate products based on the following criteria: local production, aesthetics and design, originality, retail potential, compatibility with our space limitations, and whether they directly compete with products from our existing suppliers.
Artisan goods, antiques, and personal care items are accepted on a consignment basis (see terms below), while grocery products are purchased at wholesale prices.

Store Responsibilities
Once approved, the Store Manager will contact approved consignment suppliers regarding the first order. All further decisions regarding the products to be sold will be left to the discretion of the Store Manager. These decisions are based on factors such as space, our seasonal market and sales history.
The Silverton General Store’s consignment rate is 30% of the retail price.
Payments for products sold at the SILVERTON GENERAL STORE will be issued monthly at the subsequent month end.
On occasion, customers return work to the Store for refund or credit. If a Supplier has already been paid for the sale, this amount will be deducted from the Supplier’s next cheque.
Returns of defective products will be dealt with on an individual basis. Items that are proven to be defective will be removed from our inventory and will be returned to the Supplier at their expense.
Though the store takes careful measures to prevent this from happening, The SILVERTON GENERAL STORE is NOT covered by insurance on consignee goods for fire, criminal activities and breakage. As the supplier retains ownership of their goods at all times, He/She/They are RESPONSIBLE FOR HAVING THEIR OWN INSURANCE (If wanting their goods to be covered).
Inventory is reviewed on a quarterly basis. The Store reserves the right to remove any item that has not sold within a year of its arrival. We ask that arrangements be made to collect these items within 14 days of notice.
Merchandising
The SILVERTON GENERAL STORE retains the right to determine how Supplier’s products will be displayed, including quantities and selection. The Store strives to maintain strong displays of each marketing members’ products. Displays are restocked and rotated frequently.
Marketing and Promotion
The SILVERTON GENERAL STORE retains the right to display and market consigned products through its retail marketing opportunities. This includes our website, social media, promotional events, advertising and in-store displays.

Consignee Responsibilities
Delivery of Product
All items brought into the SILVERTON GENERAL STORE must have an accompanying invoice with a description of each item, quantity, and retail price.
The Supplier owns their work until it has sold. The responsibility is upon the Supplier to maintain their own inventory record of the product(s) and price(s) they have submitted. Unless the Supplier provides their own invoices with each delivery, the SILVERTON GENERAL STORE is not responsible for inventory discrepancies.
Consignment items delivered to SILVERTON GENERAL STORE must be properly packaged for storage and formally received by a staff person. If possible, please deliver items during weekdays to alleviate congestion on a busy weekend.
When a Supplier chooses to remove inventory from the SILVERTON GENERAL STORE, at least one week’s notice must be given. Return shipping costs will be the Supplier’s responsibility.
Pricing
It is the supplier’s responsibility to ensure that the prices provided to the shop are the retail prices. The Store will only be responsible for paying consignment amounts on the prices listed on their invoice.
The Supplier must maintain consistency in their retail pricing. The selling price on items at the SILVERTON GENERAL STORE should be the same as that charged at other retail outlets, craft fairs, markets and galleries in the province.
If a Supplier wishes to make changes to their retail prices, they must state the changes in writing and a list of items affected must be provided.
